A Bittersweet Goodbye!

Dear Redeemer friends –

“Our” family is moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin less than 2 weeks!

As it turns out, Aung has cousins who came to the U.S. about 2 years ago. There are 2 households in 2 apts. in Milwaukee. There are children in these families and learning English is well underway! Unknown to us, contact was established and details worked out by Lily and Aung so that…big surprise to us!... a young cousin traveled to GA with a friend and was at the Ko family apt. this week. He is here to facilitate the family packing up and getting ready to move. Two family members will drive 2 vans here to take the 7 Ko family members, the young cousin-age 21 (Boscow), themselves, and clothing, personal items. Because of the limited space, no furniture will travel with them.

We absolutely believe that God has answered prayer as many on the Resettlement Team had felt growing concern - how we would detach from this family as we were supposed to do when, in reality, their needs were so many (and in fact…on-going & growing!)?  We believe some of you may have felt similar conflicts. Now they will have emotional support of extended family who speak Karen, who are further along in schooling/ESL, and can provide more care for the children in safer ways. Additionally, Wisconsin offers more generous financial allotments to the family with an excellent refugee resettlement program, which is long established.

We can only rejoice with our family and thank God for His loving provision. A Catholic church family - the baby will be baptized there. LSG and Redeemer have sponsored them, launched them, helped with many things and now they are prepared for life in the U.S.- Praise God!!!

As an aside, so many of you gave generously of your time, talent and resources as we awaited the arrival of the Ko family late last year.  These resources will no doubt continue to be blessings to others as they provide for others in need.
